Hessie has spent years across corporate and startups, most recently holding senior roles at Starling Bank including Head of People, Head of Business Banking Delivery and a Chief of Staff role, having joined the award winning digital challenger bank in 2016, before Starling got its banking licence. Prior to that, she gained a solid grounding in ‘best practice’ HR from her time at Mercer, British Gas and Centrica.

Having successfully scaled Starling through hypergrowth while creating a culture of trust, high engagement and performance, inclusion, openness and collaboration, she also has experience in strategy, operational efficiency and commercial product delivery. She now supports other businesses, from tiny startups to the 15th oldest Financial Services company in the world (no, really).

She is a regular speaker on topics such as innovative People practices, financial services / FinTech, and scaling businesses.
